Clean out Drugs and Vitamins

The 2nd National Prescription Drug Take Back Day
Saturday, April 30, 2011
10:00 am - 2:00 pm

The U.S. Department of Justice Drug Enforcement Administration urges you to properly dispose of pills.

Now is a great time to look in your medicine cabinet, pantry, vitamin drawer, office drawer or any other place you may store "pills." Pills includes prescription drugs as well as vitamins. Pull out pills that are expired or you no longer take. Place them in a plastic grocery bag (recycling) and deliver them to a National Take Back Initiative Collection Site.

Take action with me as I share with everyone I know about this important issue. Please take the time to view then share this video with everyone you know who may be interested in preserving our right to live, eat, and breathe a healthy life.

Can We Really Get it all Organized?

Downsizing, Combining Households and Learning How to Let Go - Can We Really Get it all Organized?

Many people think they can do it all themselves. Then they find they are overwhelmed, stymied and losing ground without help. How quickly your project can move forward will amaze you when you have the guidance of a professional organizer and productivity coach.

A successful organizational project has the following components:
* Discovery of your organizational needs.
* Create a step-by-step organizational plan.
* Coaching you through the decision making process to reduce, reuse or recycle items.
* Create and implement your space organization plans.
* Assisting with inventory of donation items so you can get the largest tax write-off allowable.
* They may even drop-off your donations or arrange for pick-up from your favorite charity.

Your professional organizer can assist you with every aspect of the process from start to finish.

Below are some recommendations to help you start your organizing project.

Have conversations with others who will be impacted by organizational changes and create a plan for the disposition of all items in every room.

1. Items that you agree to dispose of
a. Ask the children about interest
b. Donations may be placed immediately in a section of the garage for donation pick-up.
(i) Place all items here unless they are clearly garbage.
(ii) Your professional organizer can coach you on items that may be questionable.

2. Items that belong in another room
a. Make a list of the item, by room and note the destination.
b. Small items may be moved immediately, leave the larger items for your professional organizer to assist you or perhaps hire a a couple of laborers or professional movers to relocate the items for you.

Here is a list of possible project areas. We can help you prioritize them and then plot out the best course of action to purge and organize them.

Her Office
Exercise Room
Master Bedroom
Master Bathroom, vanity and commode areas
His Study
Library
Laundry Area
Guest Room

Family Room

Questions to ask yourself about every single item in your space:
* Does this item serve me?
* Do I love it?
* Does it have memorabilia value?
* Does it add value to my life?
* Would it be required in a Tax Audit?

Keeping Your Focus While Organizing
Here’s a powerful rule to maintain focus. Focus on one area at a time. There are only 3 reasons to leave the area which you are organizing. 1) Fire 2) Restroom 3) Water to drink.

Getting Started
To make your work more efficient, have readily available: trash receptacle, recycle bin, donation box, and plenty of other boxes for sorting. Set a timer for about 15 minutes short of the time you have to organize right now. I recommend no more than 55 minutes each time unless you have a professional organizer assisting you.

The Sorting Process
Start in one corner or the space closest to the door. You will ned to set up your sorting boxes as space allows. Perhaps it will be in a hallway or along the walls of the room.
Place items for other areas in piles or boxes set aside for taking to that other area later.

Time's Up for Now
When your project time is ended, take all items to the designated locations, but do not put them away yet. Once all items from your project are distributed, look back at the organized space, even if it's just a small portion of the space, and admire the progress you have made.

When time allows, go to each room and empty the containers you placed there from your organizing project. You may even leave the container until you tackle that space.
